REDMI PAD PRO 5G – A Layman’s Review

The best mid-range tablet that money can buy.

The other day I wanted to review my presentation while I was on my way to work. Sadly to my
horror I realised that I left my laptop back at home. God bless google drive that I could at least
access the presentation on my phone. While reviewing the presentation I was very uncomfortable
to get the editing done given the small display size of the screen. With this encounter I decided
that I need a backup portable gadget always on the go with me that has a bigger screen size than
my mobile and is easy to carry along, as compared to the laptop.

I ended up researching the web and found out about a few tablets. I was pleasantly surprised to see the varied price ranges and the various tablets up for offer with the bracketed range. I chose a category of under 30000 as a budget and filtered my search further.

I came across Xiaomi’s REDMI PAD PRO 5G. This tablet fits the under 30,000 category well
and has various sub category tablets that one can choose from. Xiaomi launched this in the
month of July 2024 so that way I assumed it was highly calibrated and up to date.

Redmi pad pro 5g has a unique aluminium metal unibody design, weighs roughly
around 571g and has a thickness of 7.5mm. This makes it uniquely thin and lightweight to carry
along without any hassle. I had two colour options graphite grey and silver to choose from. I
ordered a graphite grey one for myself.

It is a rectangular tablet with rounded edges and a dual metal tone rear end. With the rear end
camera strip being a polycarbonate material the remaining rear end has a metal finish. Rounded
edges of the tablet make it easier to use and hold without any discomfort.

AROUND THE TABLET
● TOP- Powerful Quad Speakers two on each side and a power button.
● BOTTOM-Powerful quad speakers two on each side, Type C- USB 2.0 charging port and
a 3.5mm headphone jack.
● SIDE- Volume buttons up top, a hybrid port of sim and micro SD card with 1.5TB
expandable storage support.
● BACK- on the rear end it has two camera rings with 8MP resolution of front and back
webcam

The standing screen display size of this tablet is of 30.7cm that is 12.1 inches LCD
and 2560*1600 pixels screen resolution. The screen size is measured diagonally this way the
viewing area is narrowed slightly due to the rounded edges of the design. It has 68 billion colours
to enhance the viewing experience, along with triple eye care features. It has a 120HZ
Adaptive-Sync Screen that is the refresh rate. The resolution is 2.5K sharper, with 600 units
screen brightness and a 12 Bit Display with Dolby Vision ATMOS. This ensures a surreal
viewing experience.

Oh and by the way, with me being on the go with this tablet to and from work scratching the screen dind’t look like a far fetched thought. To save me from this misery the tablet comes in with a Corning
Gorilla Glass 3 protection for a seamless experience.
A few other features in addition to the ones mentioned above are 16:10 aspect ratio, 12-bit
display, 1500:1 contrast ratio, 600nits HBM brightness, Dolby Vision, DC dimming.

The REDMI PADPRO5 Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, paired with up to
8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage at its core. It also has an integrated
graphics card in its system. It runs on the 14th version of ANDROID. REDMI has promised 2
years of OS upgrade + 3 years of security updates.

The PAD PRO runs on HyperOs software that offers better optimisations in carrying out various
functions at once, switching screens, switching applications as compared to MIUI. With me
being a multi tasker the split screen and the floating windows support is a boon.

With a 10000mAh battery the tablet is giving me a pretty long battery life. With all the media consumption that I do (which is a lot!) I’m easily getting around 20 hours or so. The life prolongs considerably if it sits idle.

It comes with a 33W fast charging support which makes it another highlight of the Pad Pro 5G. Around 4 hours of charging and it gets me up to 80%.

Honestly speaking, the tablet is too big to use as a camera device but the ones that I did click have all come out really great! The 8MP in the rear are really powerful and all the pictures have come out super crisp. Same goes with the videos. The front camera, however, is nothing to write home about.

But this wasn’t one of my concerns so I’m really happy with what I’ve got with this tablet.

● This tablet doesn’t have a fingerprint unlock option.
● Slow-charging
● Front camera is a let down.
● Screen flickers in a few applications.
● Warms up slightly on prolong use.

Overall the REDMI PAD PRO 5G is an outstanding tablet in the 20,000-30,000 category. With a wide
colourful display, a fast and high end processor and the great Dolby speakers that offer a splendid multimedia experience; this tablet will put a smile on your face. The design is sleek and lightweight which makes it easily portable.

A big thumbs up!
